Calculating The Uniqueness of You

If you are wondering how we are arrived at the conclusion that you are unique on this planet, below we outline our assumptions and how we arrived at our numbers.

With over 30+ ingredients which define your potential, we decided to focus just on the most visible 5 to 10 -- known as your gifts and talents.

The odds for having your combination of gifts and talents is ...

  • 1 out of 10 Billion based on having 5 gifts and talents each at likelihood of 1/100

  • 1 out of 10 Billion-Billion based on having 10 gifts and talents each at the odds of 1/100

To get these numbers, we calculate the rarity of your "set of gifts and talents" by combining the rarity of each. So a set of 5 skills, all with the lowest rarity level (1 out 100 random people) is calculated as

Rarity ( 5 at 1/100)
= 1/100 *1/100 * 1/100 *1/100 *1/100
= 1 /(100*100*100*100*100)
= 1 / 10,000,000,000
= 1 / 10 Billion

Conservative Estimate Values

We feel that 1 out of 10 Billion is a conservative estimate because our calculations are only looking at your gifts and talents, which is only one of nine ingredients categories of your potential. So we are only looking at 5 out of the 30+ specific ingredients which define who you are.

And we base our calculations on having the most commonly occurring gifts and talents (1 out of 100 random people have the same gift) and the fewest number. In reality, people often have more than five gifts and talents and many are rare.

Some real life examples might help you to get a good feel for how common or rare a gift is ...

  • Only one in your high school class: 1 in 100 can be compared to being the only one in your high school class to have this skill.

  • Only in a large college dorm: 1 in 1,000 can be compared to being the only one in your college dorm to have this talent.

  • Only one at a large concert: 1 in 10,000 can be compared to being the only one in at a large concert or sports event to have this gift.

  • One of 7,000 on the planet: 1 in one Million can be compared to being one of 6,382 people on the planet (or 238 people in the USA) who have this talent.

If three of your gifts are less common (you are the only one out of 1,000 people), the odds of someone else having the same set of gifts and talents become much lower

Rarity ( 2 at 1/100 & 3 at 1/1,000)
= 1 /100 *1/100 * 1/1,000 *1/1,000 *1/1,000
= 1 / 10,000 Billion

Assumptions About Gifts & Talents

This web site makes several assumptions based on our experience so far.

  • First, that gifts and talents come in clusters based on activities groups, which we organize into nine life paths.

  • Second, the pool of gifts and talents is huge (10,000+) within any life path or activity because we define gifts and talents in very specific terms and include sensitivities, awarenesses and ways of knowing (instinct) as well as action based skills.

  • Third, that most people have gift and talent sets that include gifts from several life paths.

  • Fourth, based on the size of the "gift and talent" pool and the diversity in a typical set, we assume that the correlation between gifts and talents is weak and does not significantly impact our calculations.

For example, having the gift of being able to play music by ear does not seem to make it any more or less likely that a person will be gifted at telling a children's story, reading the weather, growing vegetables, throwing a baseball, or flying a kite.
