Card Meanings of The Tarot Deck
Understanding the Meaning of The Tarot
Whether you have a new Tarot deck or just want to learn more about the meaning of each card ... finding the right source can be hard. Why? Because the Tarot can be used in many different ways. So it is important to find and work with a source that speaks to how you are using the cards.
To make it easier to find the right list of meanings for you, I have compiled a list of some of the best online and in print sources, based on how you are using the cards and how much information you are looking for.
Basic Card Meanings
If all you need are a few keywords or sentences, these online links are for you. They focus on the meaning of each card from the viewpoint of understanding the current situation, predicting future events and determining the right action to take.
If you are new to the tarot, they can act as a quick introduction. And if you are more experienced or returning to them, they work well as a reintroduction or re-emphasis on the basics if you get too mired down in details.

Analyzing Events & Situation - Try the links halfway down the page at bewitchingways.com or horoscopes.lovetoknow.com if you want a brief overview and a few ideas about the current situation.

In depth Card Meanings

A good source that provides insights from several well known classics is supertarot.co.uk. Scroll halfway down the page to access the links to each card.
Working With The Archetypes
For an in depth overview of the Major Arcana, you can read online An Introduction to the Study of the tArot by Paul Foster Case. His follow up book, The Tarot, is a classic and has just come back into print. It is one of my desert island books and provides enormous insight into the symbolism, hebrew letter, ancient wisdom, and meaning of the color, sound, and astrological sign/planet assigned to each card of the Major Arcana.
Personal Transformation
ALong with the meanings given at supertarot.co.uk, one of the best books I have found for personal transformation is Tarot of the Spirit by Pamela Eakins. You can find it at used bookstores and shops that carry the cards that were designed for it. But it works well with the BOTA and Rider - Waite cards as well.
What makes it so soulful is how well it invites you into working with the spiritual aspects of the cards and start applying them in useful ways in your daily life.
Tarot Insights & Quotes
If you are looking for even more insight, you might be interested in the quotes I have collected for each of the Major Arcana. They shed more light on the cards and can be used for journalingor working with the cards on a personal level ... as well as used in readings for others.
